[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Battery is the most critical component of a car. If you have a dead car batteryyour vehicle will not have the power to start, move, or do anything else. Therefore, it is important to know how to check battery health and to know the most common signs that it is about to die.

Usually, a battery will die slowly and provide some warning signs. There are exceptions, of course, such as when an internal failure occurs due to bad cell. But before your car battery diesone or more of the following signs are usually present.

1. Turn The Ignition Key, But Engine Doesn’t Start

If you turn the ignition key, but the engine does not start, the most common culprit is your flat car battery. It might be your alternator, it might be something else, but 94% of the time, it is your battery.

At this point, you can do a car battery test to check battery problem. If your dash lights work, but the car does not start, it is likely that your battery is undercharged – not strong enough to fully activate the starter, but having enough power supply for your electronic components. An undercharged battery could be caused by battery itself or the alternator.

 2. Engine Is Slow to Start

This is the classic signs of dying car batteryIt happens when you turn the ignition key, the engine cranks and makes long sluggish whirring sound before the engine starts. If this is the case, then it is time to test battery.

A slow engine start is just one step right before dead car battery hits. Battery components will wear out over timecausing them to be less effective. This will bring to a result that the battery is taking more time to create a charge for the starter, and you will have to wait a few extra seconds for the engine to turn over.

3. Frequent Jump Starts

Acar batteries age, they lose their ability to hold a charge as long. If you have an older battery that does not seem to hold its charge, it is normal. But if your battery is new and requires jump starts frequently, then you have to be aware. It is a sign that your battery is wearing out.

There may be an electronic component like light bulb or radio in the car draws a current after your car engine shuts off, but they do not draw enough power to drain the battery. If this happened, then you will likely find dead car battery sooner or later.
