SLA (sealed lead-acid battery) or VRLA (valve regulated lead-acid battery) are a type of lead-acid rechargeable car battery. They are more commonly known as maintenance free car batteries. Although called “maintenance free”, these batteries still require regular cleaning and functional testing.

To keep your ‘maintenance-free’ car battery in tip-tip condition and maintain its performance, you should do the following every time you service your car:

  1. Check and clean the terminals of your car battery
  2. Check your car’s alternator charge rate
  3. Remove any corrosive build-up on the outside of the car battery
