1. It takes a longer time to get the engine started. Once you get your car started, everything may seem fine because your car is running like normal. But actually what’s happening is that your alternator is keeping the battery going, but the car battery itself is not keeping the charge very well anymore. That’s why it’s taking longer for it to start the engine.
  2. Electronic accessories including radio, headlights, power windows, etc, don’t function as they normally do.
  3. The battery warning light on your car dashboard is on. This may not always mean that your battery is dying but could be one of the reasons.
  4. You smell something like rotten eggs. This is a sign that your car battery may be frozen, overcharged, or shorted internally.
  5. e. Old age. Car batteries have a maximum lifespan of about 3 years. So once you hit the 2 year mark, get your battery tested.
